Things are growing at an exponential rate here at the Bee Garden. Just ten days ago I set up the tomato cages, and already the tomato plants are bursting out the tops of the things. As predicted, the metal structures are hardly visible beneath all the greenery.
My favorite part about the garden is all the beautiful flowers. This pretty little zinnia bloomed a few days ago, and just keeps getting cuter with her little yellow crown of stamen.
One of my few red marigolds seemed to catch fire as it lit up with the last rays of sunlight, leaving the rest of the foliage in shadow.
The veggies are coming along just as nicely. Some tomatoes are approaching ping pong size!
And despite the onslaught of the dreaded yellow beetles, we will be sure to have at least one scrumptous cucumber to savor before long.
I pulled out the lettuce for compost, since it ended up being completely inedible. But I left a little patch of it to grace the presence of our garden’s new guardian.
I also got a shot of this cute little stink bug on our back screen door. But if I catch him anywhere near my veggies, he’s toast.
Keep on growing, little garden!
